Commplicated is Europe's leading strategic communications firm for deep tech startups. We work directly with early-stage founders — the builders of quantum computers, AI platforms, synthetic biology companies, and next-generation semiconductors — helping them raise capital, win media coverage, and tell stories that matter.

We are looking for an exceptional Founder's Associate to work alongside our leadership team. This is not a conventional junior hire. It is a rare opportunity for someone with exceptional potential.

The Role

You will work directly with the founder and senior team — across client work, business development, content, research, and internal operations. No two weeks will look the same. You will be pulled into high-stakes client situations, help craft narratives for companies raising millions in VC, and contribute to the strategic direction of Commplicated itself.

Think of this as the fastest possible learning environment at the intersection of technology, startups, VC, media, and strategy.

What You'll Do

• Work alongside the founder on day-to-day priorities — from client strategy to business development
• Research deep tech sectors (quantum, AI, biotech, semiconductors, novel materials) and synthesise insights for clients and internal use
• Support the development of messaging, positioning, and narrative frameworks for early-stage startups
• Draft and edit content: pitch decks, press materials, LinkedIn posts, bylines, and investor communications
• Help manage client relationships, preparing for meetings, tracking deliverables, and following up with urgency
• Identify new business opportunities and contribute to proposals and pitches
• Run internal projects to improve processes, systems, and tools — including leveraging AI to do so
• Occasionally represent Commplicated at events, conferences, and client meetings

Who We're Looking For

We care far more about who you are than what you have done. Direct experience in PR or communications is not required. We are looking for evidence of brilliance, drive, and originality.

• Genuinely curious about technology — you read about deep tech, follow the startup ecosystem, and find it exciting rather than intimidating
• High agency: you see problems and solve them without being asked twice
• Outstanding written communicator — you can make complex ideas clear and compelling
• Fast learner who thrives in ambiguity and moves quickly without losing quality
• Ambitious — you want to build something of your own one day, or go deep on strategy, comms, or investing
• Rigorous thinker who combines analytical clarity with creative instinct
• Comfortable working directly with senior stakeholders and strong-willed founders
• Proof of excellence in whatever you've done — academically, professionally, or independently

Background

We are actively seeking candidates from technical backgrounds, especially STEM, or those who have developed a strong interest in technology and communications. You might be a scientist who wants to work closer to business and storytelling, an engineer drawn to the startup world, or a generalist who has demonstrated exceptional judgment and drive in whatever they've turned their hand to.
